Mid-April is the time for many New Year celebrations in Southeast Asia. Exotissimo Cambodia and Laos will be closed from 14 - 16 April for Chaul Chnam Thmey and Pii Mai Lao respectively. In Thailand, our offices will be closed for Songkran from 13 - 15 April while our Myanmar offices will close from 13 - 17 April during Thingyan. Exotissimo Vietnam will remain open during this time. A private home-cooked dinner or cooking class in the home of a local Vietnamese is the perfect way for travelers to gain deeper insights into the country's culture and cuisine. Vietnam's first traditional medicine museum, the FITO Museum, displays an amazing collection of 3,000 items relevant to the development of traditional Vietnamese medicine (which dates as far back as the Stone Age). Implements used to prepare indigenous herbs, objects commonly found in traditional pharmacies as well as ancient books and documents on traditional Vietnamese medicine can be seen in the galleries. There are many ways to explore the bustling city of Saigon, however, none is as exhilarating as on a chauffer-driven Vespa scooter! From 28 March 2009, Shanghai Airlines will be the first carrier to operate direct flights between Hanoi and Shanghai. Using Boeing 727-800 planes, the airline will fly from Hanoi to Shanghai on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and from Shanghai to Hanoi on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Bhaya has launched three private charter junks onto the waters of Halong Bay. Bhaya Legend I is fitted with one luxurious suite-cabin while Bhaya Legend II (two boats are available with the same names and sizes) features two cabins. These new, intimate junks are designed in similar styles as the Bhaya Classic Junks with a green interior and a white exterior.

Exotissimo Cambodia has launched three exciting regional tours (linking Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam) with a particular focus on Cambodia.
The 15-day South Vietnam and Cambodia Unveiled tour leads travelers from the bustling Ho Chi Minh City to the tropical gem of Phu Quoc Island. Bay View Resort in Ngapali Beach will be closed for renovation from 1 May to 30 September 2009. Sandoway Resort will also be closed during the same period which coincides with Ngapali's monsoon season. Both resorts are expected to resume operations on 1 October.

Since 6 March 2009, a new train service now connects Vientiane with the Thai town of Nongkhai. Extending the Bangkok - Nongkhai railway across the Thai - Lao Friendship Bridge, the train service will terminate in Laos at Tha Naleng (approximately 12km from Vientiane). Passport-stamping services are available at both the Nongkhai and Tha Naleng stations. The VIP compartment seats 4 passengers while the standard compartment seats 40.
An atmospheric bistro run by a young French expatriate, the Couleur Caf- is one of our perennial favorites in Luang Prabang. The restaurant is located in the heart of the peninsula within the UNESCO-listed area. Diners can 'hide' behind the vegetated wall that separates the sidewalk and the restaurant, and observe the street life and passer-bys. Do not miss the innovative specialties - fish cassolette with fine herbs and eggplant, stuffed bamboo with pork and cr-me de citron aux mangues. The caf- seats approximately 30 people.
Last month, the Grand Champasak Hotel officially opened in Pakse. This 12-storey deluxe hotel boasts 225 rooms and features three restaurants, a coffee house, a lobby bar, a shopping arcade and an outdoor swimming pool. For business travelers, the main conference hall seats approximately 2000 people and the meeting room can accommodate up to 200 guests. The hotel is situated alongside the Mekong River.
Satri House in Luang Prabang is closed for renovation until September. The hotel is expected to resume operations in September but no specific date has been given.
For the entire month of June 2009, Luang Say will not operate its Mekong cruise and lodge services as both the boat and lodge will be renovated during this period.

It's All About Art is an ideal half-day trip for art buffs interested in checking out Phuket's art scene but yet wish to avoid the copy-and-paste imitation pieces found in Patpong.
